Our Story

The story of ASKANIS GROUP begins on 26 April 1989, when Mr. Antonis Askanis, a British-trained Civil Engineer, set up his own Contracting Company, one of the first in Cyprus with a qualified engineer at the helm.

At a time when qualified engineer contractors were scarce, Antonis Askanis Ltd filled a considerable gap in the market, and as a result, signed on to work on some of the island’s largest, most prestigious projects of the time.

The company’s first major contracting project during these early years was the extension of the East Wing of Le Meridien Hotel in 1994. This breakthrough project acted as a catalyst for growth for Antonis Askanis Ltd, and led to a number of other sizeable projects, including construction work for the Four Seasons, Amathus, Alasia and Curium Palace hotels in Limassol, as well as for the head offices of Bank of Cyprus in Limassol, Fasouri Watermania Waterpark, the Grammar School and the Paphos Harbour.

Following a decade of success in the contracting business, Antonis Askanis Ltd began taking on projects for other developers on the island, and not long after, the idea of Askanis Developers was born. The early 2000s were prosperous years for the Cyprus real estate industry, as it was around this time that many foreign nationals of high net worth began to see lucrative investment possibilities in real estate across the island.

Among the company’s first development projects were Krenia Elita and Krenia Residence in Limassol and Belview Villas in Palodia. Soon after, these were followed by Savoya, a complex of luxury apartments and penthouses located in one of Limassol’s most prestigious neighbourhoods next to the Four Seasons Hotel. Askanis Developers was thus well on its way to building a solid reputation as one of the island’s quality developers, offering luxury properties to discerning clientele seeking a high end product and a sound investment. The company’s most recent development is Opera, a complex of beachfront flats, villas and maisonettes.
